Below is my humble review of books that I read in 2018, and that brought sufficient improvement in various aspects of my life. I highly recommend each one of those, as not only they change your thinking, but as well they would definitely shift your perception of the surrounding world, reality and your role in it. So let's go...
1. Live the Life You Love: In Ten Easy Step-By Step Lessons by Barbara Sher
Amazing book that shows how to stop living life in the boundaries and break through to the fulfilled and joyful life. This is step by step guide that will show you how to make anything possible, and most bold desires to come true to your life. Practical tools and strategies how to discover and use your natural talents and resources and let them boost into your potential. Techniques that would allow you to narrow the gap between where you are now and what you've always dreamed to be.
2. You Are Not Your Pain: Using Mindfulness to Relieve Pain, Reduce Stress, and Restore Well-Being by Vidyamala Burch and Danny Penman
Authors of this eight-week Program, themselves went through suffering from physical paid, thus developed this amazing Program, that will show you how to rewire your brain and take it away from focusing on the pain triggers. These practices will take not more than 20 minutes a day, but would let you significantly reduce and manage pains from migraines, arthritis, back pains as well as will lower your overall level of stress and anxiety. I highly recommend.
One more book, that focuses on one of my favorite areas of research - sub-C (subconscious mind). Nothing new in knowing that we, people, tend to be stuck with bad habits, doing same self-destructive things over and over again. Even though we do understand that something is wrong with our behavior, yet we do not often realize that to change the pattern is easier, than we can imagine. Whether we speak about going back to destructive relationship, or trying to loose weight with non effective diets again or not choosing career path that we want - it seems that we are running a circle with all those. That's only due to the fact, that a lot of us do not realize, that majority of those behaviors are wired deeply on the level of our sub-C.
In Rewire, O’Connor, PhD, reveals exactly how to get access to our subconscious and get rid of self destructive patterns. How to overcome our ongoing procrastination, disorganization, fear, aggression and to rewire our brain to the effective and positive decision making on self-pilot, without even thinking of it.
4. Unfu*k Yourself: Get Out of Your Head and into Your Life by Gary John Bishop
This book is pretty much of the same matter as Rewire, speaking about how we dream of wealth, health, love, happiness, yet acting in a way to distract all those things from our lives. Very straight forwarded manual how to start living life you deserve and always wanted. This book can be sort of cold shower for some of you, but definitely will shake you up. Recommend even for those people, who already stood on the road of self development - not to get stuck half-way - very nice refresher.
5. The Tao of Pooh by Benjamin Hoff
Do you think that Tao theory is something very far and mysterious, and has no value for the modern day person? If so this book is definitely for you. With great deal of humor and through amazing dialogues Benjamin Hoff reveals the joy of living simple and natural life. To be read by each one, who is still doubting to start holistic living.
6. Mindset: The New Psychology of Success by Carol S. Dweck
One more amazing book showing how all our success and failures predefined by the way we think about our self and our own talents and abilities. Importance of building up self-confidence and ways to do it is the scarlet letter of this great book.
7. The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment by Eckhart Tolle
I love Eckhart Tolle books, enjoy the language and brilliant descriptive manner, so this book is not an exception. Here Eckhart appeals to us is very straight forwarded - live in Present moment, that is the fastest way to success and true happiness. And if you still wonder, what does it mean to live in present, this book, in a very elegant and colorful manner will reveal this message to you.
8. The Book of Secrets: Unlocking the Hidden Dimensions of Your Life by Deepak Chopra
One more amazing book of great author. In our daily run for happiness, love, career, success we do wonder what are those secrets that some people do have all of that easily and for us life in ongoing marathon. Deepak Chopra show that our own Life is the Book of Secrets, and it is in our power to reveal all of them, just open this Book of Life and start your discovery.
This book is written by famous blogger and content of the book corresponds to the title. Written in a very open and clear manner, that is very true to his blog, this book seems to be challenging and turning all positive thinking theories upside down
Look what Mason says - "F**k positivity. Let’s be honest, shit is f**ked and we have to live with it." Even though Mason talks about acceptance of lemons into our lives and acknowledging our limiting believes and accepting them, yet this book is still about the changing the way our sub-C is wired - accept your fears, embrace those and start living life caring about what is most important for you. This is really good book to shake the generation focused of the social patterns and stereotypes.
If you do not know who Jen Sincero is I strongly recommend you google for him. This world known coach in his book through great stories, nice advises and sometimes couple of swear words here and there shows you how you got to where you are now in your life, but what what is more important, how to kick your ass out of it and start living live you deserve.
I am positive that you would enjoy reading those books. Comment below how you liked them, as well as share with me books of 2018 that impacted you most.
